About Us

At TJL Business Advisors & Accountants, our mission is to guide you in organizing and managing your finances to secure every aspect of your financial future. Regardless of your age, circumstances, or life situation, we can help you implement strategies and protections to ensure your finances are always working for you behind the scenes.


Founded in 2008 by Tony Lumtin in Sydney's Sutherland Shire, TJL began with a single office and a vision. From these, humble beginnings, we rapidly expanded, adding Financial Planning and Insurance divisions by 2016.


Today, TJL comprises three divisions with six partners and a dedicated team of experienced professionals spanning nearly every financial field. We are committed to helping you build a better financial future.

We are proud to be the Event Partner for the annual Ronald McDonald Family Retreat Charity Golf Day, which is held in October/November every year and is the largest fundraiser for the Forster retreat.


The Ronald Macdonald Family Retreat comprises 4 cabins that are available to families with a sick or injured child, enabling them the chance to escape for a much-needed break away. We believe that this is a vital asset to our community and it deserves our continued support year-on-year.


We are also proud to be the major sponsor for Motorsport 25, a local motorsport team that competes in the Aussie Racing Championship. We are also major supporters of the annual Kristylea Bridge Cup which raises money for local cancer charity Manning Valley CanAssist.

Tony Lumtin

TONY LUMTIN

MANAGING DIRECTOR / CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT / FINANCIAL PLANNER / JP


Tony is a qualified Chartered Accountant and Financial Advisor with over 25 years’ experience in the accounting and financial advice field, uniquely advising in all facets of small to medium enterprise, ensuring that clients’ goals and objectives are looked at holistically.


Through his background in Business Advisory he is able to identify and provide structuring advice, taxation compliance and planning, management reporting services and wealth creation strategies, working closely with clients to assist in the growth of both their business and personal lives. Throughout his career he has gained experience in small and medium family-based businesses, as well as large listed and non-listed entities.


Tony enjoys working closely with business owners to enable them to achieve both their business and personal goals. Getting back personal time to do what you most enjoy is one of the most important aspects of running a small to medium sized business, and Tony encourages all owners to achieve this. Tony is often approached to become a Non-Executive board member of these businesses, which he thrives on. Despite now residing on the Mid North Coast of NSW, Tony is still able to achieve this with businesses in Sydney or abroad, thanks to the utilisation of technology.


When he’s not in the office telling dad jokes, Tony can be found spending time with his family, out on the boat, or having a quiet (loud) beer watching the Dragons!

Jacqueline Burley

JACQUELINE BURLEY

DIRECTOR/CLIENT MANAGER/ACCOUNTANT/JP


Jackie is a Partner of the firm and as a fellow member of the Institute of Professional Accountants, she maintains a high level of professional development. Over the 25 years she has worked in the industry, she has developed a deep understanding of the complexities of the Australian Tax System, and uses this knowledge to assist clients to structure and plan in such a way to minimise their obligations while ensuring they stay on the right side of the law.


She has a solid foundation in computer information systems and loves to design cost-effective cohesive business systems using leading edge computer accounting and associated technologies. Decades of experience with MYOB and Xero provides outside-of-the-box thinking on the best way to relieve business owners from the “boring parts” of running their business.


Jackie’s spare time is divided between assisting her husband with their local manufacturing company, spending time with family and dreaming of future holiday destinations.

TODD BRIDGE

DIRECTOR/CLIENT MANAGER/ACCOUNTANT


Todd started with TJL in 2016 and in July 2022 became a partner of the business. He became a full member of institute of chartered accountants in 2019 and has over 10 years’ experience working in a public practice. He enjoys all aspects of accounting and particularly enjoys working with business clients to help them grow and expand. Todd has a variety of skills, including cloud-based software, financial accounting and cash-flows, and his clients will attest to his attention to detail and commitment to providing the highest level of service at all times.


Todd is an avid sports fan and loves to watch and play most sports, especially golf and rugby league. When not working or playing sport, Todd spends much of his time with his wife trying to tire their three young children out in any way possible.

SHARON HAILES

CLIENT MANAGER/ACCOUNTANT


Sharon has worked in the practice since July 2001 and specialises in assisting clients with all their accounting needs including computer accounting, preparation of Business Activity Statements and Payroll Obligations. Sharon is also responsible for the preparation of Financial Statements and Tax Returns for Individuals, Partnerships, Companies, Trusts and Self Managed Super Funds.


When away from the office, Shaz enjoys exploring our beautiful outdoors and spending time with her three gorgeous grandsons.

ADAM PHILLIPS

CLIENT MANAGER/ACCOUNTANT


Adam joined our team in January 2022, coming from 10 years in the Public Accounting industry advising small and medium businesses with his vast knowledge from many accreditations, including; Advanced Diploma of Accounting, Bachelor of Business, Certificate in Financial Services, CPA, Certified Xero Advisor, Registered Tax Agent.


Prior to his career in Accounting, Adam's background in landscaping, farming, retail and 10 years in the pub industry has provided him with a unique ability to relate to his clients both on a personal level and provide a deeper understanding of their business’s needs.


Adam enjoys fishing, fitness and spending time with his family outside work.

LORA HINTON

ACCOUNTANT


Lora joined our Accounting team January 2021. She has completed her Diploma in Accounting and is currently studying a Bachelor of Accounting with Southern Cross University.


Lora returned to the local area in 2019 after working with respected firms in the Newcastle region and gaining vast experience in taxation. Lora is Xero certified and is a motivated and passionate worker who always puts her clients’ best interests first.


Lora loves the outdoors and spends her spare time at the beach with her husband, kids and little dog.

MELEENA KATUWAL

GRADUATE ACCOUNTANT


Meleena joined our accounting team in December 2021. She earned her Master’s degree in Professional Accounting from Charles Sturt University and always has had an interest in Accounting.


Meleena assists our clients and client managers with all tax matters and specialises in individual tax returns.


When she’s not working, Meleena enjoys reading and travelling with her friends and family.

REBECCA ARKLE

ACCOUNTANT


Bec completed her Bachelor of Business majoring in Accounting in 2017 at Southern Cross University when she lived in Coffs Harbour with her family and is currently completing her studies to become a Chartered Accountant. She joined our team in August 2022 after spending 4 years working as a personal lender, followed by 5 years at a local accounting firm in Coffs Harbour gaining valuable knowledge in taxation. Bec assists our clients with all tax and GST-related matters, including having vast experience with accounting software, especially QuickBooks.


When away from the office, you will find Bec out deep sea fishing with her partner, walking their dogs at the beach, playing golf, clay target shooting or watching NRL and the F1s.

MITCHELL SCHUBERT

ACCOUNTANT


Mitch started with TJL in March 2023 after completing a Bachelor of Accounting at Charles Sturt University and a few years’ experience with another practice. His experience in taxation legislation, especially through the COVID 19 Pandemic, has equipped him with many skills to benefit our clients; he has extensive knowledge ranging from tax returns and financial statements for all entities to working on self-managed superannuation funds.


Mitch is continuing his qualifications further by aspiring to successfully becoming a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.


He enjoys helping his clients with all their taxation needs and spending his free time with his young family.

Shaun Davison

Insurance Broker


Shaun joined TJL when the Insurance division was established in 2016. With more than 25+ years’ insurance industry experience, Shaun holds a Diploma in Financial Services (Broking) and enjoys the diversity of managing the insurance needs of both personal and business clients. Like Matt, Shaun is widely known for his exceptional service and commitment to finding solutions for his clients. Shaun relocated to Forster in early 2013 and is married with three young girls. His wife was born and raised in Forster and Shaun is heavily involved with many community activities, helping him feel like a true local himself.


He spends his time on the committees of Southern United Football Club and the Forster Tuncurry Mudcrabs and can often be seen teeing off at Forster Tuncurry Golf Club.

MATT MCQUILLAN

Matt has been in the insurance industry for more than 10 years, quickly moving up the ranks before joining TJL Insurance in 2016. Matt offers our clients advice in all facets of business, personal, and general insurance, and is well known for his exceptional level of service and willingness to go the extra mile. The many testimonials we get from happy clients affirm Matt’s commitment to ensuring every claim is handled quickly and professionally.


Matt was a chef in a former life, and in his spare time, he loves nothing more than being in the kitchen or at the BBQ cooking up a storm, spearfishing, and having a yarn with his friends and family.

KYM VISSER

Insurance Agent


Kym embarked on her journey in the Insurance industry in 1989, partnering with the longtime insurance broker, Graham Herring. Following an extensive collaboration of over two decades with Graham, and the sale of his business’s, Kym remained deeply entrenched in the insurance industry as an agent in Taree for an additional 6 years.


Kym is looking forward to sharing her extensive knowledge with our clients, many of whom she has collaborated with previously throughout her years of experience.


During her leisure hours, Kym takes pleasure in engaging with her community and cherishing the role of a caring babysitter to her ever-expanding brood of grandchildren.

Geoff Isaacs CFP®

SENIOR FINANCIAL PLANNER / JP


Geoff joined the TJL group in June 2020 as a senior financial advisor and became partner in July 2022.


Geoff has completed a Bachelor of Business (Financial Planning) from RMIT and holds the Certified Financial Planner® designation.


After completing his schooling on the Mid North Coast, Geoff spent almost 5 years living in the UK where he played cricket with a handful of home county sides. Geoff returned to Australia in 2010 then spent close to a decade working in advice firms across Sydney.


Having developed a significant knowledge base across the financial planning spectrum, Geoff strongly believes the basis for quality advice is a deep understanding of a clients’ goals, both financial and lifestyle-based. Geoff works with a wide range of clients and understands that each client’s situation is unique and requires tailored outcomes to help them achieve their objectives.


Geoff is a keen sportsman and although his playing days are fast fading, he still enjoys watching almost all sports. Away from work you’ll find Geoff testing his resolve with few rounds of golf, enjoying the coastal walks of the local area with his wife Deb or spending time on his family’s farm.

CAMERON DUNK CFP®

FINANCIAL ADVISER / JP


Cameron is one of TJL’s highly qualified Financial Planners and holds the Certified Financial Planner® designation.


He joined the TJL Financial Management team in 2019 after completing a combined Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Commerce, followed by a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) at the University of Newcastle. Cam has also completed a Diploma of Financial Planning through Monarch Institute and a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning through the University of New England.


Cam likes to look at the big picture and enjoys working with people to create plans to better their financial situation. He is truly passionate about investing having completed a Research Thesis on the relationship between share prices and dividend policy in Australia for his Honours degree where he received Class I Honours.


Cam was born and raised in Forster and likes to spend his spare time with his family and friends enjoying the beautiful area we live in. He also enjoys his sports and has involvement in the local touch football and rugby league clubs.

BRANDON GILMOUR

Brandon joined the TJL team in 2016 after branching away from 8 years in the banking industry.


She holds a Diploma in Financial Planning and a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning which she completed in 2022. Since joining the team she has become a valued adviser in the Financial Planning division while also handling compliance and customer relations.


Brandon likes to spend her free time enjoying the beautiful Forster Tuncurry area with her husband and 2 young children.

Sue relocated to our lovely area from Sydney to enjoy the beaches and lifestyle Forster has to offer.


With over 30 years of administrational experience with the past 9 years in accounting firms, Sue’s knowledge in accounting operations and procedures is a great asset to our office and staff. She oversees the smooth running of our business, providing guidance and support to our administration team.


Sue enjoys spending her weekends with friends and family, gardening or relaxing watching a good movie.
